Many are hearing of the end times these days, including the “rapture” or “catching away” of the saints. The following scenario comes to mind…

(As if “speaking” to someone who is missing…)

I never really thought that come this dawn
I’d be looking for you and find you gone.
A “rapture” or “catching away” was a coming event–
that’s what you said, but I didn’t grasp what it meant.
Something about Jesus coming for His own–
It was actually true–how I wish I’d known.
I think there was a part that I could still belong
to Him and His Kingdom but I’d have to be strong.
The times would be brutal was what you said–
some sort of mark or my family couldn’t be fed.
If I resisted such, it would cost me my life–
There’d be no compassion, you said, but only strife.
Oh, how your words are ringing in my ears.

Dear God, I ask Your help to see through my tears.
Why didn’t I see the Bible was Your Word to me,
and invite You into my heart on bended knee?

Oh, my, how I miss you–I wish I could find
that it’s all a bad dream, but I’ve been left behind.
