On This Memorial Day

I never wore a uniform, but have respected those who have and do…

whether they were soldiers, sailors, Marines, or Air Force pilots who flew.

Today, we give honor to the fallen from all of the various U.S. armed forces.

They and their hearts were examples of America’s “highest courage” resources.

Their parents remember them fondly from the very first day when they were born…

never imagining them training for or dying one day in an area that was war torn.

Thank you, God, for all those who sacrificed, who I didn’t personally know…

Only You know of their rewards–their contributions to freedom and stability stood strong against any foe.

P. A. Oltrogge

…thank you to and God bless the families of the brave who’ve fought…

“The United States and the freedom for which it stands, the freedom for which they died, must endure and prosper.  Their lives remind us that freedom is not bought cheaply.  It has a cost; it imposes a burden.  And just as they whom we commemorate were willing to sacrifice, so too must we–in a less final, less heroic way–be willing to give of ourselves.”
Ronald Reagan, Arlington National Cemetery, May 31, 1982

Oh say does that star-spangled banner yet wave
O’er the land of the free and the home of the brave?
