Father, thank You for what Your Son has done…

Father,

I thank You for Your answers even before my prayers have begun…
because of what Your Son, Jesus Christ, has done.

I’m seated in the heavenly places—my victory’s been won…
because of what Your Son, the Lord Jesus, has done.

At Calvary’s cross, the curse was defeated. All fear I now can shun…
because of what Your Son, the Messiah, has done.

Not by my own merit, but by the blood from His veins that had run,
I can come before You boldly because of what He’s done.

Regarding the name of Jesus—a greater name, there’s none,
because He so pleased You as a perfectly obedient Son.

And, one day, when my race on earth has been completely run,
I’ll be immediately in Your presence because of what Your Son has done.

Peter on the Porch

There’s great need to pray for those brothers and sisters in Christ in various countries who have been/are persecuted simply for doing what is stated in this poem post–identifying themselves as followers of Jesus Christ.

“Father, we bring them before You and ask for Your protection, wisdom, and encouragement to be upon their lives. We ask for needed healing for some, due to things they’ve suffered and deliverance for those wrongly imprisoned. We ask that those in authority in restrictive governments will come to recognize and turn to You themselves. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”

After singing a hymn, they went out to the Mount of Olives. And Jesus said to them, “You will all fall away, because it is written, ‘I will strike down the shepherd and the sheep will be scattered.’ But after I have been raised, I will go ahead of you to Galilee.”

As Peter was below in the courtyard, one of the servant-girls of the high priest came, and seeing Peter warming himself, she looked at him and said, “You also were with Jesus the Nazarene.” But he denied it, saying, “I neither know nor understand what you are talking about.” And he went out onto the porch.

The servant-girl saw him, and began once more to say to the bystanders, “This is one of them!” But again he denied it. And after a little while, the bystanders were again saying to Peter, “Surely you are one of them, for you are a Galilean too.” But he began to curse and swear, “I do not know this man you are talking about!” Immediately a rooster crowed a second time. And Peter remembered how Jesus had made the remark to him, “Before a rooster crows twice, you will deny Me three times.” And he began to weep. Mark 14:66-72

Will you defend the Lord Jesus, learning a lesson from Peter?
It may take courage, yet it’s the path Jesus calls sweeter (“blessed.”)

If you find yourself among those who openly reject Him,
will you stand up and share that you greatly respect Him?

Or will you go to the fire to pause and be comfortable and warm,
rather than to speak out to those who need to be spiritually reborn?

No, the “fire” you should seek is the Holy Ghost’s torch;
then you won’t have remorse, as Peter did on that porch.

Don’t wait for the “rooster to crow,” as in this Bible account’s denial;
but identify yourself as a follower of Christ whenever He’s “under trial.”

HE Strengthens Me

I’ve got some mountains to climb

and I need to feel prime…

So I thought of that script,

which says that I’m equipped:

“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”

He strengthens me; HE strengthens me…

With each step forward, He strengthens me;

with each step up, He strengthens me.

If I suffer a setback, He strengthens me.

If I feel weak, I’ll resist being distraught…

No, “He strengthens me” must be my thought,

for that is what the scriptures have taught.

This confidence I have, for I’m blood-bought.

So, “Be strong in the Lord and in the strength of His might,”

just as David found strength in God for a Goliath fight!

The “Foolishness” of the Message of the Cross

The symbol of the cross is seen throughout the world.
Yet, at its life-saving message, contempt is sometimes hurled.
Many say that it’s foolish and that, to them, it doesn’t make sense.
For if God is loving, they think they should be able to dispense
with its message of Christ being Savior as the one way to God’s heart.
But that is its true meaning which God, the Father, still seeks to impart.

“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son….”
It’s through Jesus’ crucifixion and resurrection that our salvation was won.
Life blessed and “more abundant” can also be ours, Jesus said–
not only for eternity, but for “today” and every new day ahead.
We can do philanthropic deeds, but they won’t carry enough weight.
We must accept Christ’s sacrifice to secure entrance at heaven’s gate.

This isn’t always accepted by some who’ve earned higher learning,
but it’s through study of the scriptures, that one comes to be discerning.
Sometimes it takes a demonstration, by the Holy Spirit, of God’s power
to convince them of Christ’s Lordship; and it’s then, that faith will flower.
The message of the cross is that God loved us beyond measure–
May those who find it “foolish” find, instead, their greatest treasure.

Every country and its people are unique, and the Lord loves the people in each one. Having visited Japan at one time, these thoughts come to mind…

Biblical excerpt from the
early morning encounter at the garden tomb:

“The angel said to the women, ‘Do not be afraid; for I know that you are looking for Jesus who has been crucified. He is not here, for He has risen, just as He said. Come, see the place where He was lying. Go quickly and tell His disciples that He has risen from the dead; and behold, He is going ahead of you into Galilee, there you will see Him; behold, I have told you.” Matthew 28:5-7 NASB

“The Land of the Rising Sun”…It’s Japan’s name that’s widely known.
May it be “The Land of the Risen Son,” when knowing Christ has grown.
The uncertainties of ancient religions can never offer that which is true.
Receiving Jesus as Savior and Lord makes each person a creation anew.

Japan is made up of islands; its cities have lovely, inviting gardens.
The Lord sought refuge in a garden–before giving His life for the pardons…
which He earned for us by His obedience in taking the penalty for our sins.
For God so loved the world, that through Jesus, new life begins.

In a lush garden that was called Eden, God originally communed with man.
Then man sinned against God, but the Father had already made a plan…
to send a Savior, His very own Son, who would be heralded by angels in the sky.
“Christ, the Lord,” they called Him–He was born, that on a cross He would die.

Throughout His ministry, Jesus showed caring to those who were oppressed;
He shared the goodness of God–by His many miracles, people were blessed.
He told of the love of His Father in heaven and taught His disciples to pray.
We, too, can experience the love of God, sensing His presence with us today.

Jesus came to be our Redeemer, so relationship with God would be restored.
Those who receive Him as their Savior, have found the TRUE and LIVING Lord.
No longer are spiritual things vague. The love of Jesus is beyond compare…
so much so that those in Christ cannot help, of His wonderful love to share.

An “Easy” Meditation

“Behold, I am the Lord, the God of all flesh. Is there anything too hard for Me?” Jeremiah 32:27 NKJV

There’ve been times when one of the biggest mistakes that I have made…
is to think that something’s just too hard, even after I’ve prayed.

“Is there anything too hard for Me?” the God of all creation asks.
Of course not. He’s the Champion of creative miracle tasks.

In Bible scene after scene, we see situations that are an example.
Recalling the hand of God in them, His help was more than ample.

The Bible speaks of some difficult times, ahead of Jesus’ return;
but we’re to share about victory in Him, so that others still can learn.

More need to trust in Jesus, our Savior, amid the world’s distress;
and we, as believers, know…that God’s deepest desire is to bless.

“EASY” is the encouraging word that my thoughts, in faith, should take.
That which seems insurmountable to me–for God, is “a piece of cake!”

The Courage of Esther

Today I’m writing about the story of Esther, who was a queen. She had been appointed queen during the reign of Xerxes, (in some texts Ahasuerus) and she hadn’t revealed what her nationality or family background was. Her “royalty” came in later, however. King Xerxes’ right-hand man, Haman, had decided the Jewish people would be killed. Esther was a Jew, but she was queen. Here was her chance to be bold.

Now Esther’s cousin, Mordecai, was deeply saddened by this edict and decided that Esther needed to do something about it. It was her “job” to save the Jews. This story is in Esther 4-7. You can read all of the book of Esther in a short amount of time if you would like to read the whole story.

“All the king’s officials and the people of the royal provinces know that for any man or woman who approached the king in the inner court without being summoned, the king has but one law: that he be put to death. The only exception to this is for the king to extend the gold scepter to him and spare his life. But thirty days have passed since I was called to go to the king.” Esther wanted to remind Mordecai what the rule was.

Mordecai replied, “Do not think that because you are in the king’s house, you alone of all the Jews, will escape. For if you remain silent at this time, relief and deliverance for the Jews will arise from another place, but you and your father’s family will perish. And who knows that you have come to royal position for such a time as this?”

The pressure is really on Esther because she knows that what Mordecai said is true. There is no safety from Haman, who is out to destroy all the Jews. She knows she needs to step up and help her people. Now that’s a burden!

Esther tells Mordecai to have the people fast, along with her, and she will go to the king. “And if I perish, I perish.” That is bravery most of us don’t have.

Esther dressed in her royal robes and stood in the court to approach the king. He favored her and liked the way she looked, so he extended his gold scepter. It was going to be okay to speak to him. The king said, “Even up to half the kingdom, it will be given you.”

Esther has a banquet and the evil Haman comes along with the king. Here is where her bold request is made. “If I have found favor with you, O king, and if it pleases your majesty, grant me my life–this is my petition. And spare my people–this is my request. For I and my people have been sold for destruction and slaughter and annihilation. If we had merely been sold as male and female slaves, I would have kept quiet, because no such distress would justify disturbing the king.” When the king asked who was behind this, Esther revealed that it was Haman. He knew, at that point, that he would now die. In fact, he was hanged for his evil plan.

The Jews were spared. Esther’s life was spared. God intervened for them through her courage. This is also where the tradition of Purim, a joyous feast on the fourteenth of the month of Adar (Hebrew calendar) happens every year. The Jews were spared death, and celebration of it is still held today.

Have you been bold enough to step up and speak up for those who are being abused or threatened? Have you stood up for a child who is hungry or isolated in this world? It will take the nerves of Esther to do it. Some things are easier to stand up for than others. We are all responsible for those around us–the poor, the elderly, the abused, the neglected, and the sick. If you see something that you know is wrong, you just can’t stand there and do nothing. Now is your chance to act–as Esther did.

Hebrews 4:16 says, “Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.” God will give you the strength you need. God will hear your plea. God will help you be bold when it’s needed.

When troubles surround, look to the beauty of a flower.
Its magnificence reminds us of our creative God of power,
who stands with us against those who would seek to defeat us.
At the point of our need, God and angel armies meet us!

There are more who are with us than those who oppose–
and our deliverer is the King. From the grave, He arose!
There’s no other name under heaven higher on which to call.
Jesus Christ is our Redeemer, Mighty God, and Lord of all!
