…from Marian at Timothy’s Ministry

Jesus said, “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.” (Matt 11:28-29)

Good Morning! I am writing this note from Tim’s House as my friends are cooking their famous, delicious breakfast in the kitchen and people continue to walk through our doors. A wonderful man named Keith arrived early this morning because we are helping him find better housing, and hopefully a place in a senior building. Keith is 75 years old, lives at the YMCA, and is also battling cancer. (We are helping others who don’t have housing as well).
Keith joined us for the first time last week. As we shared around the table, he began to cry and told us he had been contemplating whether he even wanted to keep living. Then he said, “Something told me to come to Tim’s House.” Since we are only a block away from the YMCA, he had heard about us but wasn’t sure what we were all about. As he opened up about feeling hopeless, especially while living in a small room without air conditioning (that’s another story) we prayed with him and shared the words of Jesus: “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.” (Matthew 19:26) By the end of our time together, Keith said, “Something told me to come here today when I felt hopeless, and I know that voice was God.. I feel so much better.”He looks like a different person today, with a smile on his face. Please pray that we can help him move quickly into subsidized senior housing, for which he qualifies because of his age.

ANOTHER MAN IS WORKING FULL-TIME! We were all so excited last week when John walked through the door with wonderful news that he has been working at a Jewel warehouse for the past three months! I hadn’t seen him since he first got the job because he has been busy working, but he had a little time before his shift last Wednesday and stopped in to encourage everyone. He shared that he will soon be moving into better housing and wanted everyone to know that there is hope. With the biggest smile on his face, he lifted his arms and said, “This is all God!” He was especially grateful because this warehouse job pays $30 per hour, plus time-and-a-half for overtime, which he has been taking full advantage of as he saves for his future. In the past, something from many years ago in his background had kept him from getting a good job. But God made a way! His testimony encouraged so many people around the table, and he shared information about the job application process with others who are looking for work. We also helped three people last week with rent assistance because they were on the verge of being evicted. They were incredibly grateful, and it was only possible because of your faithful generosity.

Thank you so much for your prayers and financial support. Through God, you are making such a difference in the lives of people who experience the hope that can only be found in Jesus. .

Blessings, Marian
