The Need for Repentance

Repentance is required…many haven’t yet turned away from the bent to sin.
“Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world.”  Man needs love for God within.

The Bible says that if we’ve broken one of God’s laws, we’ve then broken them all.
As any of us think back, there have been many times we’ve sinned that we can recall.

Thankfully, God sent His Son to bear the penalty for the sins we’ve committed.
Jesus was willing to do this–through Him, perfect obedience to all of God’s Law was submitted.

The belief that we can rely on our own “good works” is one of satan’s set snares.
You see, all of our righteousness before God is unclean or impure, the Bible declares.

Many displays of evil have been appearing upon the world’s stage in these days.
Good versus evil is evident–men and women must turn and repent, adhering to God’s ways.

The greatest act of repentance is to receive Jesus as one’s Savior and to follow Him as Lord.  Only through repentance from sin and receiving Christ is our relationship with God graciously and fully restored.

P. A. Oltrogge

“Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.” 1 John 2:15 KJV

“For whoever shall keep the whole law, and yet stumble in one point, he is guilty of all.” James 2:10 NKJV

“We are all infected and impure with sin.  When we display our righteous deeds, they are nothing but filthy rags.  Like autumn leaves, we wither and fall, and our sins sweep us away like the wind.”  Isaiah 64:6  NLT (“But we are all as an unclean thing…” in the KJV)

“For we ourselves also were sometimes foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving lusts and pleasures; living in malice and envy, hateful, and hating one another.  But after that the kindness and love of God our Saviour toward man appeared, not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost; which he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour; that being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life.”  Titus 3:3-7  KJV

“But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities;  The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, and by His stripes we are healed.  All we like sheep have gone astray; We have turned, every one, to his own way; and the Lord has laid on Him the iniquity of us all.”  Isaiah 53:5-6 NKJV

“Do not think that I came to destroy the Law or the Prophets. I did not come to destroy but to fulfill. For assuredly, I say to you, till heaven and earth pass away, one jot or one tittle will by no means pass from the law till all is fulfilled. Whoever therefore breaks one of the least of these commandments, and teaches men so, shall be called least in the kingdom of heaven; but whoever does and teaches them, he shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven. For I say to you, that unless your righteousness exceeds the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, you will by no means enter the kingdom of heaven.” …spoken by Jesus in Matthew 5:17-20 NKJV

“But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name.” John 1:12 KJV

“There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.”
Romans 8:1 NASB

“Now all things are of God, who has reconciled us to Himself through Jesus Christ, and has given us the ministry of reconciliation, that is, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not imputing their trespasses to them, and has committed to us the word of reconciliation. Now then, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were pleading through us: we implore you on Christ’s behalf, be reconciled to God.” 2 Corinthians 5:18-20 NKJV

The Ten Commandments

“And God spoke all these words, saying:

“I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.

“You shall have no other gods before Me.

“You shall not make for yourself a carved image—any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth; you shall not bow down to them nor serve them. For I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children to the third and fourth generations of those who hate Me, but showing mercy to thousands, to those who love Me and keep My commandments.

“You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain, for the Lord will not hold him guiltless who takes His name in vain.

“Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days you shall labor and do all your work, but the seventh day is the Sabbath of the Lord your God. In it you shall do no work: you, nor your son, nor your daughter, nor your male servant, nor your female servant, nor your cattle, nor your stranger who is within your gates. For in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested the seventh day. Therefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and hallowed it.

“Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be long upon the land which the Lord your God is giving you.

“You shall not murder.

“You shall not commit adultery.

“You shall not steal.

“You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.

“You shall not covet your neighbor’s house; you shall not covet your neighbor’s wife, nor his male servant, nor his female servant, nor his ox, nor his donkey, nor anything that is your neighbor’s.”

Exodus 20:1-17 NKJV

…many of you already know the above message, but it’s shared for the sake of any who might not have truly realized their need of it–knowing some things about God, yet not having made the decision to repent and receive the Lord personally….
