As a postscript to the post, “Daniel in the Lions’ Den,” it occurred to me, after posting it, that I referenced Jesus as having experienced death and hell. Whether this was a literal descent into hell has been a subject of discussion/debate. Certain church creeds say that “He descended into hell.” Other Christians believe that He did “descend into hell” while on the cross, offering Himself as the sacrifice and taking the punishment for our sins.
Either way, we’re grateful to God for what Jesus has done in our place; and, thank God, Christ is risen!

“Under the old system, the high priest brought the blood of animals into the Holy Place as a sacrifice for sin, and the bodies of the animals were burned outside the camp. So also Jesus suffered and died outside the city gates to make his people holy by means of his own blood.” Hebrews 13:11-12 NLT
“For God made Christ, who never sinned, to be the offering for our sin, so that we could be made right with God through Christ.” 2 Corinthians 5:21 NLT
